Peter DiStefano rose to fame as a guitarist when he joined singer Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Martyn LeNoble to form Porno for Pyros. They released a self-titled debut in 1993, and a second album, Good God's Urge, in 1996. Some say Pete is "the other half of Porno for Pyros" because his distinct guitar syle is such an enormous piece of what made the band a success.
Around 1997, Perry and Stephen became involved in a Jane's Addiction reunion tour, leaving Porno for Pyros on hold. Meanwhile, Pete was challenged with heroin and alcohol addictions, and had also been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He continued to work on projects such as Rambient, Hellride, Venice Underground, and toured with former Bauhaus singer Peter Murphy.
After beating cancer and overcoming drugs, Peter was inspired to write his first major solo album, Gratitude. With a wife and two kids, Pete is now living in Ventura, California. After touring on his latest album, Loyalty, Pete plans to possibly reunite with Porno for Pyros.
